Ultrasound has become an essential skill integrated into medical curricula at all levels. This comprehensive hands-on course is designed to help participants confidently integrate Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) into daily Acute, Emergency, and Intensive Care practice.
The course provides a balanced mix of practical scanning, image interpretation, and case-based discussions, supported by evidence-based reviews. Participants will practise on live models and use advanced ultrasound simulators, ensuring both technical and diagnostic competence.
Key topics covered include:
- Basics: Ultrasound physics, knobology, and image optimisation
- Abdominal ultrasound: Normal anatomy, detection of free fluid, hydronephrosis, bladder assessment, and guided paracentesis
- Thorax/Lung ultrasound: Identification of pneumothorax, pleural effusions, consolidation, atelectasis, and interstitial syndromes
- Vascular/DVT ultrasound: Anatomy, common pathologies, ultrasound-guided vascular access, and DVT detection
- Case-based image quiz and review
