Over the past year, 2,000 doctors have completed our two-day Teach the Teacher for Doctors (Train the Trainer Course for Doctors) programmed. We run courses both across the UK and in our virtual training rooms every week.
During the Teach the Teacher Course for Doctors, we explore formal teaching theories, principles, and practical tools. The course is highly interactive, with teaching delivered in small groups to encourage participation and engagement.
Over the two days, your tutor will first introduce you to some well-established concepts in medical education. You will then conduct a one-to-one teaching session, followed by leading a small group tutorial. This hands-on approach helps you build confidence and apply educational theory in practice.
Next, working as part of a small team, you will prepare and deliver a longer teaching session to the entire group. We examine in detail the different strategies required for each of these settings, focusing on your individual learning needs. This means you will gain valuable insight through both giving and receiving feedback on your own teaching sessions.
You will also learn from observing your fellow participants, while your tutor will guide you in how to offer constructive, supportive feedback to others.
Support Materials Provided
Our support does not end when the course does. In keeping with the principles we teach, we continue to reinforce your learning after the event.
Each participant in the Teach the Teacher course receives a copy of our best-selling Teaching Skills for Doctors manual (120 pages; recommended retail price £49.99).
When you register for a course in the virtual training room, you will receive both digital and printed versions of the manual. This serves as an invaluable reference tool during the course and for future professional development.
In the weeks and months following the course, you will also receive a series of Top Tips for Great Teaching Practice via email, helping you to continue refining your teaching skills long after the course concludes.
