🏥 Course Overview
This comprehensive Level 1 Point-of-Care Ultrasound (PoCUS) course equips clinicians with the core skills needed to perform focused bedside scans in emergency and acute care. Delivered by experienced NHS ultrasound faculty, the programme blends concise theory with extensive hands-on practice on live models and simulators to build confidence in real-time image acquisition and interpretation.
🎯 Learning Objectives
- Understand ultrasound physics, machine optimisation (knobology) and probe handling.
- Perform FAST / eFAST scans to detect free fluid, pneumothorax and effusions.
- Acquire basic cardiac views (Parasternal, Apical, Subcostal) for ELS assessment.
- Identify B-lines, consolidation and pleural sliding on lung ultrasound.
- Gain proficiency in ultrasound-guided vascular access and procedural guidance.
