This course offers a comprehensive overview of Arterial Blood Gas (ABG) interpretation skills and the utilization of non-invasive ventilation (NIV) in the care of adult medical and surgical patients within the NHS setting. Attendees will receive a Certificate of Participation, equivalent to 6 hours of CPD credit upon completion.

On the course, you will have an introduction to ABG interpretation and NIV usage and get exposure to a wide range of ABGs in various clinical scenarios encountered in NHS Acute Hospitals. We will also discuss current national guidelines for initiating NIV safely and troubleshooting common issues.
You’ll recieve access to a course workbook prior to the course for independent practice and preparation

- Pulmonary Embolism
- Pneumonia
- Cardiogenic Pulmonary Edema
- Asthma
- Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
- Pneumocystis Jiroveci Pneumonia
- Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis
- Salicylate Poisoning
- Sepsis
- Bowel Ischemia
- Renal Tubular Acidosis
Participants will develop their interpretation skills, learn key management aspects, identify areas for improvement, and gain confidence in handling ABGs and initiating NIV interventions in real-world clinical scenarios encountered in emergency medicine, acute and general medicine, and surgical inpatient settings.
