Teach the Teacher Course for Doctors, Nurses & Healthcare Professionals

Develop your presentation and teaching skills, learn how to deliver effective 1-to-1 and group teaching, and gain the confidence to train others with clarity and impact. This course provides a structured, practical framework for delivering high-quality medical education and feedback.

ISC Medical offers two options to suit different needs and schedules. The 1-Day 'Essentials' course covers core teaching principles and frameworks with over 6 hours of synchronous teaching, meeting criteria for all training portfolios including IMT, CST, ACCS, and CCT applications. The 2-Day 'Comprehensive' course provides in-depth coverage of teaching principles and frameworks, extended practice, feedback and coaching with over 12 hours of synchronous teaching, ideal for those wanting to build strong teaching skills and provide enhanced evidence of commitment to teaching.

Both courses are delivered live on Zoom and run 9:30am–5:00pm (1-day) or 9:30am–5:00pm day 1 and 4:30pm day 2 (2-day). The courses are specifically designed for healthcare professionals, including doctors, nurses, dentists, and allied healthcare staff, and are delivered by experienced clinicians and accredited trainers. Classes are kept small and interactive, giving participants plenty of opportunities to practise teaching, receive personalised feedback, and ask questions throughout.

Key content includes foundations of effective teaching and learner engagement, learning styles and session design (Honey & Mumford, Edgar Dale's Pyramid, Pattern Interrupts, 4MAT System), confidence and communication skills (handling difficult questions using ACE technique, building psychological safety), and advanced teaching skills (objective setting, structured feedback, managing challenging situations). Participants also benefit from learning through observation, peer review, and practical tasks designed to build confidence.
