Public Health Medicine ST1 national recruitment is one of the most competitive entry points into specialty training in the UK, open to both medical and non-medical applicants. In 2025, there were 2,710 applicants for just 95 posts, with a competition ratio of 28.5:1. This course provides structured preparation for the selection centre and interview stages, equipping candidates with the frameworks, knowledge, and communication skills needed to stand out.
The course covers the full Public Health ST1 interview format and assessment domains, teaching you how to structure high-scoring answers, tackle challenging scenarios with registrar-level thinking, and communicate effectively under time pressure. You'll learn proven frameworks (STARR, ISPIES, CAMP, LESS) for common question types, explore core public health knowledge including health inequalities and key organisations in the UK system, and practise realistic scenarios covering commitment, teamwork, leadership, research critical appraisal, and ethical decision-making.
