About this course
The Negotiation Skills Course is a self-paced e-learning programme designed to help doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals gain confidence, clarity, and strategic insight in negotiation situations—from everyday workplace discussions to high-stakes organisational decisions. The course draws on evidence-based negotiation frameworks and real-world healthcare examples to provide a complete toolkit for approaching negotiations with calm authority, emotional intelligence, and proven strategy.
The course comprises six modules (approximately 4 hours total) with 90 days' access and includes engaging video lessons and practical exercises. It covers traditional versus modern negotiation approaches, the full Negotiation Cycle, effective planning techniques, five negotiation styles, managing different personalities, practical tools such as chunking and tradables, psychological techniques including Cialdini's principles and the Nudge Effect, advanced frameworks like perceptual positions and Dilts' Logical Levels, and measuring success with professional, value-focused standards. Learners can also test their natural negotiation style through a structured questionnaire and practice applying their style in realistic scenarios, including case studies and a major historical negotiation (the Northern Ireland Peace Process).
