About this course
A practical one-day course in echocardiography delivered in Peterborough on 5 December 2026. Designed for healthcare professionals with basic transthoracic echocardiography experience working in Emergency Medicine, Anaesthesia, Intensive Care, Acute and General Medicine, and Cardiology. The course is BSE (British Society of Echocardiography) endorsed and supports preparation for the BSE Level 1 accreditation pathway.
The day combines live scanning practice, HeartWorks simulation, and structured image interpretation. With small-group teaching (24 places) and personal guidance from experienced instructors, you'll develop your approach to focused echocardiography. The course welcomes both those pursuing formal BSE Level 1 accreditation and those wishing to develop practical skills independently.
What's included in your course place:
- Supervised practical scanning on GE machines with live models and simulation
- HeartWorks cardiac simulation software for anatomy exploration and scanning practice
- Image interpretation and reporting sessions covering normal and abnormal pathology
- Formative practical feedback circuits with live scanning, simulation and video stations
- Pre-course resources including BSE pathway guidance, logbook information and case-mix details
- Level 1 video lectures, echo scanning guides, normal and pathology scan videos
- Lunch and refreshments throughout the day
Course attendance does not itself confer BSE accreditation or establish competence for independent practice; further clinical scanning should remain within your competence and local supervision and governance arrangements. Basic echocardiography experience including probe handling, cardiac anatomy and standard transthoracic views is required before attending.
