About this course
The Kung Medics FRCEM Career Day is a free, interactive educational event for doctors who are considering, planning or actively preparing for the FRCEM examinations. Preparing for FRCEM can feel overwhelming, with candidates often uncertain about where to begin, which resources to use, how long to prepare, how to balance revision with clinical work, or what is expected in the written and OSCE components.
This event provides an opportunity to meet senior Emergency Medicine doctors, successful FRCEM candidates and experienced educators who can share practical guidance based on their own examination journeys. Attendees will be able to ask questions, discuss their concerns, learn from colleagues working in different hospitals and develop a clearer, more realistic plan for their own FRCEM preparation.
This is not a full examination-preparation course. It is a structured guidance, mentorship and professional-development event designed to help doctors understand the FRCEM journey and prepare more effectively.
The programme is expected to include:
- An overview of the FRCEM examination journey
- Guidance on planning for the written and OSCE components
- Practical advice from doctors who have successfully completed FRCEM
- Common preparation mistakes and how to avoid them
- Choosing and using revision resources effectively
- Creating a realistic study timetable around clinical shifts
- Approaches to question banks, guidelines and mock examinations
- Understanding the expectations of FRCEM OSCE stations
- Managing examination pressure and maintaining confidence
- Guidance for candidates who have previously been unsuccessful
- Interactive question-and-answer sessions
- Small-group discussions and mentoring
- Opportunities to meet potential study partners
- Development of a personal FRCEM preparation action plan
Attendance at the FRCEM Career Day is free. A £25 refundable reservation deposit is required at the time of booking to secure each place. The deposit is intended to reduce non-attendance and ensure that places are reserved for candidates who genuinely plan to attend. The £25 reservation deposit will be refunded to the original payment method after the attendee checks in at the event, attends the programme as required, and completes the event feedback form. Candidates also have the option to make a voluntary £25 contribution toward the cost of organising and delivering the event.
