About this course
A 3.5-day intensive course of SBA (Single Best Answer) analysis and peer group-work for ICM trainees preparing for the June 2026 FFICM MCQ Examination. The course is delivered in-person at Village Hotel, Whiston, and runs from 1st–4th June 2026 (13:00 Monday to 16:00 Thursday). Places are strictly limited to 32 trainees, and the course is only open to candidates who are sitting the imminent Final FICM MCQ Exam and are fully prepared.
This is not a course of SBA practice, question spotting, or question memorisation — all of which can be done at home. Instead, it is a highly structured course of question analysis and group discussion, delivered with no didactic teaching input. Attendees should not expect to be taught; rather, they come to learn through collaborative peer-group work. The course explicitly requires participants to work efficiently and in harmony within a group environment. Anyone unwilling to engage meaningfully with group work, or who prefers individual revision, should reconsider attendance. The MSA strongly believes that group work, if undertaken correctly, is a significant contributor to course success.
Attendees must be significantly prepared for their examination before attending — the course is not suitable for those who have not completed extensive prior preparation. Long days and hard work are required, though the atmosphere is casual and spirited with strong camaraderie. Breakfast, lunch, refreshments, and car parking are included. You must be able to attend the whole course.
The course is led by Dr Tom Syratt, with faculty members Dr Darius Zeinali, Dr Will Bansema, and Dr Rob Normanton. Kirstie Gray (Chief Executive Officer) and Dr Kristianne Jones (Operating Officer) oversee delivery, supported by MSA Consultant Advisors Dr Tushar Dixit and Dr Beth Perritt. Candidates should organise study leave as soon as possible and must be booked onto the College exam before submitting their application.
