PLAB Online Courses for UK Doctors

If you are an international medical graduate, you will still book your exams under the "PLAB" name in 2025 and 2026. However, the content of these exams is now fully aligned with the GMC's UKMLA Content Map, expanding the syllabus to approximately 430 conditions and removing the previous specialty mapping grids.

From April 2026, the GMC exam fees are £283 for PLAB 1 and £1,036 for PLAB 2. Online question banks typically cost £30–£60. Practical PLAB 2 preparation courses and academies vary from £600 to £2,000+, with higher costs for packages that include accommodation near the Manchester assessment centre.

Most candidates book PLAB 2 preparation 2–6 weeks before their exam date, once their PLAB 1 result is confirmed. Popular providers in Manchester fill up fast — if you have a specific date, book as early as possible.
