About this course
The BCS National Training Day 2026 is a one-day course covering topics from the current cardiology curriculum. Held on Wednesday 23 September 2026 at the Royal College of Physicians in London, the event is carefully tailored to address potential gaps in the Training Programme and provide additional detail on areas trainees have identified as being of concern.
The day is structured across four main sessions:
- Session 1: Coronary artery disease and prevention - including coronary CT in the cath lab and mitral disease assessment and interventions
- Session 2: Heart Failure and cardiomyopathy - covering heart failure guideline updates, cardiac amyloidosis, and conduction system pacing
- Session 3: Cardiology in specific patient groups - addressing cardiovascular disease and chronic kidney disease, cardio-oncology, and cardiology in pregnancy
- Session 4: Interactive ECG quiz
The event runs from 08:45 to 17:00, with registration and refreshments from 08:00, and includes morning and afternoon breaks plus lunch. Sessions are delivered by leading cardiology experts from teaching hospitals and university centres across the UK, providing trainees with expert-led education and the opportunity to test their knowledge in a competitive quiz format.
