Many healthcare providers and staff who primarily work with adults may feel uncomfortable interacting with children with eye or vision problems and their families.
This course is designed to teach participants the fundamentals of paediatric ophthalmology, so they can feel more confident when working with children. It is suitable for trainees and consultants working in Emergency Medicine, General Practice, and General Ophthalmology.
We aim to help clinicians and clinic staff:
- Develop their skills and confidence in working with infants and children
- Learn about vision screening programs, normal and abnormal eye and vision development, developmental and acquired eye and vision conditions in children, and the holistic needs of children with sight problems and their families
- identify common eye conditions in children and make appropriate referral decisions
