Emergency Head and Neck Surgery Cadaver Course

The course gives hands-on refresher training for consultants and senior trainees in ENT emergencies that occur in areas outside their sub-specialty using fresh frozen cadavers. Non-consultant career grade doctors might also wish to register.

The course will be modular covering the specific procedures noted below. Participants would be expected to cover 2 modules or all 3 if time permits.

Delegate/cadaver ratio will be 2:1
Module 1 – Rhinology
•SPA ligation
•Anterior ethmoid artery ligation
•Drainage of peri-orbital abcess
•Lateral canthotomy
•Frontal sinus trephining

Module 2 – Head and Neck
•Neck exploration targetting IJV, carotid artery, parapharyngeal/neck abcess drainage
•Tracheostomy/cricothyrotomy

Module 3 – Otology
•Cortical mastoidectomy
