About this course
This is a practical, interactive online course designed for Consultant, SASG (Specialty Doctor/Associate Specialist), and Senior STs (Specialty Trainees) working in adult general psychiatry. Led by experienced cardiologists who understand the specific needs of psychiatrists, the course provides a comprehensive update on ECG interpretation with a strong focus on abnormalities relevant to psychiatric practice.
The course runs as a full-day webinar on Friday 29 January 2027, from 09:45 to 16:30, using Webex or Teams. The session combines interactive lectures with practical case scenarios, Q&A opportunities, and live tutor feedback. Content covers ECG basics and beyond, including anatomy and electrophysiology of the heart, systematic ECG interpretation, identification of high-risk patients, and the relationship between ECGs and psychiatric medications (including stimulants, psychotropic agents, mood stabilisers, and antidepressants).
Participants will develop a skilled, systematic approach to interpreting ECGs, identifying red flags, and deciding when to refer to a specialist. The course includes extensive interactive ECG discussion sessions where attendees work through real cases in depth, guided by tutors. Topics include prolonged QT interval, sinus tachycardia, atrial fibrillation, ST elevation and myocardial infarction, AV block, and ectopics. Access to an on-demand recording (catch-up) is included for 90 days after the live session.
Early-bird price £195 until 10 November 2026 (normal price £225 thereafter). The course awards 5 CPD points and includes a CPD certificate of attendance.
