    Question Bank Details

After completing your MSRA, you will be invited to interview based on your rank and the number of places available. Typically, around 60 candidates are invited to interview, and unlike some other specialties, there is no option to bypass the interview stage even with a high score.

To score well and secure your first-choice job, you need to prepare for the interview as thoroughly as you would for your exams.

How do I prepare for my interview?

Effective preparation focuses on two areas: Knowledge and Delivery.

The CSRH ST1 interview is knowledge-intensive. If you lack the knowledge, no matter how polished your delivery, you won’t earn the marks.

Equally, you may have consultant-level knowledge, but if you don’t deliver it well, all those hours of preparation will go to waste!

This is your opportunity to demonstrate why you would make an excellent CSRH trainee.

This is where we come in… We are proud to have developed over 40 carefully crafted scenarios that mirror the interview, designed to help you prepare and maximise your chances of landing your dream job. We’ve been doing this for a while now, and we know how crucial it is for the question bank to be up-to-date. Each year, our high-scoring editors make updates to ensure it reflects the most recent interviews. Our team has secured some of the most competitive training jobs in previous rounds, and we want to help you do the same!

Best of all, we’ve presented it in an easy-to-understand format on a platform that you can access anywhere.

    Why have we done this?

When we were preparing for our specialty interviews, finding accurate and helpful advice felt nearly impossible. Recruitment websites only provide limited information, and while asking those who have completed the interview can be useful, it sometimes only made us more nervous rather than actually helping us prepare.

Since then, we have filtered through all the good and bad resources so you don’t have to, and our high-scoring core trainees have put it all together in one place: the Medibuddy Online CSRH ST1 Training Interview Question Bank.

    Updated for 2024

We keep our interview question banks updated to give you the best reflection possible of how the interview will be in 2024.

    What’s Included?

Our CSRH question bank covers all eight questions asked at the CSRH interview, including:

    • General
    • We provide an overview of the interview, along with examples of general questions you might be asked, including model answers.
    • Communication
    • An understanding of certain ethical and legal issues in sexual health (such as consent, confidentiality, and termination of pregnancy) is important when addressing these scenarios.
    • Specialty Interest
    • The specialty interest section of the interview explores why you believe you would make a good CSRH trainee and examines your knowledge of the training programme. Our question bank provides guidance on how to approach these questions, including tips on where to find relevant information, especially if you haven’t yet gained much experience in CSRH.
    • Audit & Data Handling
    • For this section, you will likely receive an article to read before the interview. We offer a step-by-step guide on how to approach this, along with additional potential questions on audit and data handling.
    • Teamwork
    • Teamwork is essential in all specialties, and this section covers potential questions that interviewers may use to assess your ability to work effectively within a team.
    • Resilience
    • While resilience has recently been recognised as particularly important across all specialties, it is a specific focus in the CSRH interview, making it essential to consider.
    • Holistic Medicine
    • A “whole person approach” is especially relevant to CSRH, as you may encounter topics that are still considered taboo by many. Our question bank will ensure you are fully informed and prepared for questions of this nature.
    • Leadership & Teaching
    • Leadership and teaching are vital in all specialties, and you may be asked about your leadership experience and the significance of leadership within CSRH. We offer example answers to these questions, along with key points to consider during your preparation.
