The Endeavour Medical Team

Dr Lucy Obolensky – Founder

Dr Lucy Oblensky

Lucy is passionate about empowering and motivating people to achieve their goals. With over 20 years of experience in expedition medicine and global health, she has helped many people overcome physical and mental challenges.

For example, Lucy has climbed Mount Kilimanjaro with amputees, cycled through Cambodia with people with Parkinson’s disease, and sailed across the North Sea with disadvantaged young people. By supporting these people in achieving their goals, Lucy has found herself inspired to set new goals in her own life.

Lucy believes that everyone has the potential to achieve great things, regardless of their circumstances. She is committed to helping people reach their full potential, and she is an inspiration to us all.

Dr Anna Shekhdar – Medical Director

Dr Anna Shekhdar

Anna was raised with the belief that “there’s no such word as can’t.” This philosophy has driven her to take on challenges and push herself throughout her life.

In 2002, Anna participated in one of the earliest Wilderness Medicine courses. This experience inspired her to work in remote environments, and she became determined to combine her work as a hospital emergency physician with working in the field as an expedition medic and pre-hospital doctor.

Anna believes that medicine provides a unique opportunity to combine a rewarding career with travel. She has worked hard to seek out opportunities to do something a little different, and she has travelled to Peru, China, Iceland, Tanzania, Cambodia, Vietnam, and Morocco with charity groups.

Dr Imara Gluning – Director of Operations

Imara Gluning

Imara is determined to use her medical training to help improve healthcare across the globe. She completed a Master of Science in Nutrition for Global Health at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, where she focused on child and maternal undernutrition. In 2021-2022, she was a Bristol Global Emergency Medicine fellow, where she spent two months working in an emergency department in Nanyuki, Kenya.

Since then, Imara has returned to North-Eastern Kenya to assess the health needs of remote communities and organise medical electives in collaboration with the NGO Northern Rangelands Trust, Dharura Charity, and Endeavour Medical.

Imara is also an avid sailor, swimmer, and diver. She has completed a Trans-Atlantic sail and is currently working as a medic for the BBC on an upcoming production filmed in the Bahamas.
