Dr Matt Clayton – Course Organiser

Following a degree in Social Anthropology at Cambridge, Matt travelled extensively and worked in the online gaming industry for 3 years.  He graduated from St George’s University Medical School in 2010.  He spent a happy 4 months as an FY1 doing anaesthetics/ITU and knew it was the career for him.  He has since become an ALS instructor, taught medical skills to refugees on the Thai/Myanmar border, published and given international presentations on Quality Improvement work carried out in Pakistan, and been awarded Teaching Prizes and a Clinical Leadership award from the London Deanery.  After a period working in Intensive Care in Australia, he returned to the UK, and is a newly appointed consultant in at the London North West University Healthcare Trust with an interest in Obstetric Anaesthesia and Major Surgery.

Dr Josie Cashman – Course Organiser

Josie graduated with Distinction from Brighton and Sussex Medical School in 2010, with honours in several subjects. During her medical training, she also completed an intercalated degree in Psychology with First Class Honours at King’s College, London. As part of her academic foundation training programme, she was involved in anaesthetic research looking at the incidence of AF after oesophagectomy. She chose ACCS Anaesthetics in order to gain more medical experience and allow her to complete the Membership of the Royal College of Physicians exams. She completed her core training in St George’s School of Anaesthesia, London, and is currently working in as Consultant in Intensive Care and Anaesthesia at Kingston Hospital Foundation NHS Trust.

Dr Stephen Daly – Course Organiser

Stephen joined the team in 2020. He initially graduated in Mathematics but after a few years in Health insurance decided to follow his passion and study medicine. He joined the graduate entry program at St George’s, where he was president of the Anaesthetics and Critical Care Society, graduating in 2017. During his elective he was student lead for the Health Partnership Nepal charity mission, helping deliver general anaesthesia rurally, following the 2015 earthquake, as well as assisting in a women’s health teaching programme. He completed his foundation training in North East Thames deanery and recently joined Core Anaesthetic training in East of England, scoring 96% in his online interview. Outside of work he likes travelling, reading and cooking but mostly spends time running around after his one year old son.
