VRiMS 16 offers a comprehensive week-long program focusing on various surgical specialities through a blend of virtual reality (VR) and hands-on cadaveric training. This immersive course is designed for medical professionals seeking to enhance their skills in specific areas of surgery, using advanced VR technology for an enriched learning experience.
Course Modules:
- Cardiac Surgery
- Explore minimally invasive cardiac surgery techniques, with a focus on aortic and mitral valve procedures.
- Learn about patient selection, physical therapy, and operative planning.
- Gain hands-on experience with exposure, valve repair, and implantation, utilizing a full range of long shafted instruments, telescopes, and camera stacks.
- Upper Limb and Hand Course
- Understand the common flaps used in upper limb and hand reconstruction.
- Delve into the principles of fracture management and advanced microvascular surgical techniques.
- Participate in-person with up to 10 delegates, fully integrated with VR anatomy and 360VR demonstrations of all techniques.
- Transplant Surgery and Organ Retrieval
- VR and Cadaveric Demonstrations:
- Study abdominal anatomy related to organ procurement and steps of DBD and DCD organ procurement.
- Engage in discussions on anatomical variations and virtual surgical planning.
- VR Demonstrations:
- Witness kidney and pancreas implantation, liver explant, and liver implant surgery.
- Experience synchronised VR approaches to complex procedures.
- VR and Cadaveric Demonstrations:
- Damage Control
- Learn the principles and practices of damage control surgery.
- Apply theoretical knowledge to practical scenarios managing diverse damage control cases.
- Limited in-person attendance for up to 6 delegates, with an option for remote participation via VR livestream.
- Head and Neck Reconstruction
- Study common flaps used in head and neck reconstruction.
- Learn the principles of perforator dissection, virtual surgical planning, and advanced microvascular techniques.
- Participate in-person with up to 10 delegates, with full VR anatomy integration and 360VR demonstrations.
- Surgical Dermatology
- Master the principles of surgical dermatology, focusing on local flaps and facial subunit concepts.
- Engage in hands-on training with VR anatomy support, with up to 10 delegates allowed for in-person attendance.
- Dental Implants and Aesthetic Training
- Participate in hands-on cadaveric techniques for dental implants and aesthetics.
- Study sinus lifts, implants, and non-surgical aesthetic procedures.
- Experience VR anatomy and interactive 360VR videos with in-person participation for up to 10 delegates.
