This course is tailored to appeal to a wide range of clinicians working within the secondary care setting and may also be of interest to healthcare managers.
The primary aim is to emphasise the critical role of effective team communication in demonstrating high standards of professional practice, supporting colleague wellbeing, and minimising medicolegal risks.
Through a combination of presentations, case studies, and small group discussions, the course will address the following key topics:
- Professional guidance on team communication
- Common barriers to effective communication at personal, team, and organisational levels
- Key components of effective team communication
- The significance of clearly defining and sharing team roles and boundaries
- The importance of supervision, training, and induction
- Practical tips and tools for improving team meetings, briefings, handovers, and delegation
- The role of soft skills in fostering safe and effective team interactions
By the end of the course, delegates will feel more confident in identifying and mitigating team communication risks within their own workplace.
