This course is tailored to appeal to a variety of clinicians working within the secondary care setting, and it may also hold relevance for managers.

The course is geared towards emphasising the significance of proficient team communication in demonstrating exemplary professional conduct, promoting colleague welfare, and minimising medicolegal risks.

Through a blend of presentations, case studies, and small group discussions, the following areas will be examined:

  • The array of professional directives concerning team communication.
  • Common obstacles to effective team communication, spanning personal, team, and organisational realms.
  • Components essential for effective team communication.
  • The importance of delineating and disseminating information regarding team roles and boundaries.
  • The significance of supervision, training, and induction.
  • Strategies and resources to enhance the efficiency of team meetings, briefings, handovers, and delegation.
  • The role of soft skills in fostering secure team interactions.

Upon completion of the course, participants will be better equipped to identify and address team communication risks within their respective environments.
