During your foundation training, you will frequently encounter acutely unwell patients. This course equips you with a structured assessment approach to initiate appropriate early management, going beyond the standard ‘ABCDE’ approach.
Designed to introduce you to the management of critically ill or deteriorating patients on the wards or high dependency unit (HDU), the course highlights the crucial role of foundation doctors within the multidisciplinary team.
Course development:
Created by a collaborative team of surgeons, anaesthetists, physicians, an intensive care nurse, and a foundation trainee, ensuring alignment with the curriculum needs of FY1 doctors.
Many foundation training programmes have integrated START into their curriculum—please check with your local Training Programme Director (TPD) to confirm if it is included in your programme.
Certification:
Upon course completion and submission of online feedback, you will receive a certificate, which can be linked to your Horus e-portfolio.
