The Mentorship Programme is an established three-part mentor training course open to all interested in taking on a mentoring role in their workplace, or who already have mentoring responsibilities and would like to improve their practice. This in-person course will broaden your own mentoring skill-set and diversify your network of colleagues.

The course is suitable for Doctors, Surgeons, Dentists, Podiatrists, Travel Health Specialists, Nurses and Academics.  The training concentrates on the skills needed to be a successful mentor and is based upon the ‘Egan Model’, a framework proven to be of benefit in mentoring relationships.

Over the course of a number of workshops and group sessions, participants present their own issues and opportunities; practicing the skills necessary to apply this framework effectively.

Learning objectives:

  • Identify the knowledge, skills and attitudes required to successfully initiate, maintain and ‘end’ a mentee relationship

  • Be aware of the ethical and professional issues involved in mentoring

  • Describe the three stages of the ‘Egan model’ and give examples of how it can be used

  • Define mentoring and explain its benefits to professional, personal and organisational practice
