This five-hour interactive course is structured to blend content delivery with self-directed learning and case discussions in breakout groups. Throughout the session, the emphasis remains on understanding the essential medico-legal obligations and frameworks pertinent to effective record-keeping. The topics covered include:
- GMC guidance concerning record-keeping practices, emphasising the documentation of critical elements of the consent process and the use of chaperones.
- Strategies for ensuring medical records align with data protection legislation and its requirements.
- Exploration of common pitfalls associated with new technologies and evolving work methodologies, and their implications on record-keeping.
- Delving into communication strategies with patients in light of the lessons learned from the Paterson Inquiry, focusing on effectively conveying their condition and treatment using clear and concise language.
