Welcome to the inaugural Fundamentals of Paediatric Neurosurgery course, in partnership with the Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Sheffield Children’s Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
Paediatric neurosurgical rotations or on-call duties can be challenging for junior neurosurgical trainees due to limited exposure to paediatric patients and the conditions that affect children. However, it is essential to be well-versed in the fundamentals of managing these patients to ensure and enhance patient care. This course, aimed at trainees from ST3 to ST6, will help optimise and deepen their learning during paediatric neurosurgical rotations or on-call shifts.
Aims and Objectives
- To understand how infants and children differ from adults
- To become familiar with the essentials of caring for critically ill paediatric neurosurgical patients
- To grasp the principles of managing a range of paediatric neurosurgical conditions, including head and spine trauma, hydrocephalus, malformations of the head and spine, neuro-oncology, and infections
We wish you a rewarding and interactive learning experience.
