Ultrasound is now recognised as an essential skill and is incorporated into the curriculum at all levels. This course is perfect for Acute or Emergency Physicians, whether you are a Resident Doctor, Advanced Clinical Practitioner, Medical Associate Professional, or Consultant.

This course will equip you with the skills to confidently integrate Point-of-Care Ultrasound (PoCUS) into your daily Emergency or Medical practice. You’ll learn through hands-on scanning, image interpretation, case discussions, and evidence reviews. The course covers:

  • Basics: Ultrasound Physics, Knobology, and Image Optimisation
  • Cardiac ECHO (not included in the FAMUS syllabus but taught additionally): Heart failure, wall motion abnormalities, pulmonary embolism, right heart strain, and aortic dissection
  • Abdomen: Abdominal free fluid (ascites), hydronephrosis, bladder distension
  • Thorax: Pneumonia, pneumothorax, pleural effusion
  • Procedures: US-guided vascular access and nerve blocks
  • DVT
  • Quiz: Case-based image review
