Ultrasound Teaching Sonogram

This one-day FAMUS course has been approved by the Society for Acute Medicine and delivers all of the components required for FAMUS accreditation.

The course covers:

  • The FAMUS syllabus and accreditation process
  • Basic ultrasound physics and knobology
  • Thoracic
  • Abdominal/renal
  • DVT/peripheral vascular scanning
  • An introduction to ECHO, which includes practical experience of cardiac scanning (this is a popular component and is in addition to the FAMUS curriculum)

The course is led by Acute Physicians with extensive experience in Point-of-Care Ultrasound (PoCUS). It consists of alternating presentations, live demonstrations and practical sessions with about 4 hours of hands-on scanning time across the day.
