The Bromley Emergency Courses Core Emergency Ultrasound Course is intended to give you a firm foundation in both the knowledge and skills required in EM PoCUS by the Royal College of Emergency Medicine at Introductory and Intermediate levels.
The course covers:
- Ultrasound physics.
- Knobology (how to operate ultrasound machines)
- PoCUS Clinical Governance
- Focused Assessment for Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA)
- Ultrasound-guided (USG) peripheral and central Intravenous (IV) access
- Echo in Life Support (ELS)
- USG fascia iliaca compartment block (FICB)
- Focused Assessment with Sonography for Trauma (FAST)
- Extended Focused Assessment with Sonography for Trauma (eFAST) for additional assessment of the thorax for pneumothorax and hemothorax
When you register you will be given access to 12 online videos that cover the core knowledge required, which you can watch on their website or on their free App, downloadable from Apple or Google Play.
There will be short presentations covering clinical applications along with live demonstrations, and the majority of your time will be spent scanning on healthy volunteers and state-of-the-art simulators for pathology.
