September 11 @ 9:30 am – 12:30 pm BST

This engaging 3-hour course will cover the regulatory, ethical, and professional obligations that doctors have regarding patient confidentiality. It will also explore common risk areas within this complex and critical subject. Unfortunately, breaches of confidentiality are frequent in healthcare and often carry legal consequences under data protection laws.
Using case studies and group discussions, participants will gain a deeper understanding of how to manage risks related to organizational processes, the sharing and disclosure of patient information, and emerging practices such as remote consultations.
Key topics will include: understanding parental rights, legal disclosures or those made in the public interest, patient access to their own clinical records, addressing data security breaches, and handling the personal information of deceased patients.
Additionally, we will explore safe methods of sharing patient information with other healthcare professionals and external agencies.
This course is accredited by the Federation of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of the UK for 3 CPD credits.
