January 13 All day

Originally developed by Health Education England and the award-winning Blended Learning team for NHS doctors-in-training, this 16-week online CPD module is now open to international students. The course is designed around the UK Royal College of Surgeons Emergency Surgery Curriculum and can be completed in two 8-week parts or as a full 16-week programme. The curriculum provides the essential knowledge required to be a competent Consultant-level emergency general surgeon.
The programme uses a blended learning approach, offering flexible learning resources to enhance knowledge acquisition, improve communication skills, and develop clinical decision-making. Each week introduces a new topic using a Problem-Based Learning (PBL) approach, with asynchronous discussion boards curated by Consultant faculty. These provide a forum for students to debate the optimal management strategies and current controversies in emergency general surgery. The learning experience is enhanced with multimedia teaching aids, videos, and formative assessment tools.
